Indivisibles seek County Board affirmation of election integrity of county-run midterm elections
Indivisible group members throughout California are writing their County Board of Supervisors asking them to adopt a resolution affirming the integrity of county-run elections and thanking county staff and volunteers. A suggested form letter for customization is circulating on Indivisible California State Network's Election Protection Signal chat that has been sent by individual members or groups to Supervisors in Humboldt, El Dorado, San Benito, Yolo, Los Angeles and Santa Clara, among others so far. The letter points out the critical role that each county plays in election administration where County Supervisors and other county non-partisan elected officials are closest and most responsive to the electorate. A link to the draft letter can be found here. The letter also requests that Supervisors seek the adoption of similar resolutions by the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) and the National Association of Counties (NACo).
San Francisco City/County Board member Cheyanne Chan is introducing a resolution expected to be taken up on Tuesday, October 27, "Affirming San Francisco’s Commitment to Election Integrity, Support for Election Workers, and Opposition of the Intimidation of Election Officials and Voters." Humboldt County elections administrator penned a draft resolution that can be adapted for other counties and is linked here. Humboldt County Supervisors will also consider adopting that resolution on Tuesday.
The goal is for all 58 California counties to adopt similar resolutions in support of the integrity, transparency, accessibility, and reliability of county-run elections as the bedrock of free and fair elections for democracy in America.
