From September 29 to October 6, Mary Agnes will join a walking pilgrimage that begins at the Adelanto Detention Center in San Bernardino County and ends at the Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles. The walk is organized with CLUE (Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice), where she has volunteered for years as a community advocate.

Her reason for walking started inside Adelanto. Visiting people held there, she heard directly about families kept apart for months and about the conditions detainees live with day to day. The pilgrimage carries those stories along the route, one mile at a time.

The walk also raises money for CLUE's bond program. When a bond is paid, a person can leave detention, return to their family, and keep pursuing their immigration case from home. According to Mary Agnes, CLUE has paid bonds for 190 people over the past year.

Mary Agnes plans to walk part of the route and has set up a fundraising page to support CLUE's bond work.
